Anant practices in both state and federal court in civil and commercial litigation matters.  His civil litigation practice focuses on representing construction site owners and contractors in cases arising out of worksite accidents.  Accordingly, he is well-versed in legal issues related to claims made under Labor Law §§ 200, 240, and 241, as well as the various risk transfer opportunities available to owners and contractors sued under those provisions.  He also has experience in the defense of personal injury actions in other contexts, including sporting accidents, motor vehicle liability, premises liability, product liability, and other tort liability.

Anant’s commercial litigation practice includes representing business and individuals in breach of contract and breach of warranty matters, including under the UCC and under the common law.  He also has experience in many other types of commercial and corporate litigation matters, including: intellectual property litigation, corporate governance disputes, professional liability defense, and property tax assessment litigation.  In addition, Anant has experience in counseling clients on criminal, civil, and administrative exposure at both the federal and state levels arising out of potential government investigations, and he has previously worked on internal investigation matters and has defended clients under investigation by both federal and state governmental entities.

Anant has experience with all aspects of litigation, from pre-suit discovery and preliminary injunctions to post-trial motions and appeals.  He has taken multiple trials to successful verdicts, but he also takes great pride in properly posturing cases for favorable outcomes on dispositive motions and for favorable settlements.

Anant previously served as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Rochester, where he taught an undergraduate Legal Reasoning and Argument course and volunteered as a coach for the University’s mock trial program.  He also previously served as a co-chair of the 2014 Monroe County Diversity & Inclusion Job Fair organized by the Monroe County Bar Association’s Diversity Committee.
