CYBER RISK AND PRIVACY
The increasing reliance on electronic communication and data storage by businesses has brought with it a significant increase in risks and potential liabilities as a result of lapses and vulnerabilities in cybersecurity. Increasingly frequent incidents of hacking, social engineering and data breaches have opened up companies both large and small to litigation, regulatory fines and potential damage to hard-earned reputations and the good will of its customers and clients. It is therefore imperative for all businesses to protect their data assets by developing and implementing privacy and information security policies, and to be prepared to detect and respond swiftly to any cyber incident.
KSLN’S Cyber Risk & Privacy Group specializes in handling all cyber-related legal and coverage issues, including: pre-breach risk management services; data breach incident response services (acting as “Breach Coach”), including oversight of the data breach response process and interpretation of the myriad state and federal laws governing data breach response; first- and third-party claim and litigation management; and general privacy breach claims.
KSLN’s Cyber Risk & Privacy Group is led by Lori B. Lewis, a Partner in our White Plains office, who has earned the ANSI-accredited Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) credential through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
The CIPP certification is the global standard in privacy certification. Developed and launched by the IAPP with leading subject matter experts, the CIPP is the world’s first broad-based global privacy and data protection credentialing program. The CIPP/US demonstrates a strong foundation in U.S. private-sector privacy laws and regulations and understanding of the legal requirements for the responsible transfer of sensitive personal data to/from the U.S., the EU and other jurisdictions. Lori joins the ranks of more than 8,000 professionals worldwide who currently hold one or more IAPP certifications.
