KAYLA E. LEONARD

Kayla joined KSLN in 2019 and practices primarily in the firm’s insurance defense department. Prior to joining KSLN, Kayla practiced at another local law firm in plaintiff’s personal injury, where she spent most of her time focusing on car accident cases, premises liability, and Labor Law cases.  With experience on both sides, Kayla brings a unique and valuable perspective to the litigation files that she handles. 

 

A native of Buffalo, New York, Kayla attended D’Youville College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude in Sociology and English.  In 2014, Kayla was awarded the Sociology Major of the Year by the College for her commitment to the department and field of Sociology.  After spending a few years working as a paralegal for a small immigration law firm, Kayla enrolled at the University at Buffalo, School of Law where she earned her J.D., cum laude, in 2018.  During her time in law school, Kayla served as Outreach Coordinator for the school’s public interest program and was a member of the Sports and Entertainment Law student group.  Kayla was also a Student Attorney with the Mediation Clinic, where she assisted in the resolution of various small claims and landlord/tenant matters in local town courtrooms.  Kayla went on to win the school’s mediation competition and competed in the Representation in Mediation competition at Fordham University in Manhattan.  Kayla also acted as a volunteer law clerk with the New York State Unified Court System in the Hon. Thomas Franczyk’s chambers.

 

Outside of work, Kayla spends her time cheering on her favorite sports teams and volunteers at a number of local nonprofits, including Buddy’s Second Chance Rescue and the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Research Team (SMART).
