Kenney Shelton Liptak Nowak, LLP continues to add to its diverse range of practice groups with the addition of Tom Cunningham.
Tom is a well-respected attorney with experience litigating at top Western New York firms and building his own successful civil and commercial mediation practice. He brings that practice to KSLN, along with 30 years of valuable knowledge and experience in personal injury and insurance coverage cases.
This is a homecoming for Tom, who was previously a partner at KSLN from 1997-2001. In three decades as a litigator, he has worked with many plaintiffs’ attorneys and insurance company representatives to resolve thousands of cases. He has also participated in hundreds of mediations and arbitrations.
In 2022, he retired from full-time practice of law and started Cunningham Mediation, handling complex insurance coverage matters and catastrophic personal injury cases.
Cunningham has been recognized by Upstate New York Super Lawyers every year since 2008. He was also frequently named a Legal Elite and Who’s Who in Law by Buffalo Business First and Buffalo Law Journal, and has presented more than 50 seminars and publications on litigation, substantive tort topics, and insurance coverage.
He is the former chair of the Automobile Committee of the New York State Bar Association, Torts, Insurance & Compensation Law section. He also formerly chaired the Negligence Committee of the Erie County Bar Association.
Cunningham obtained his law degree from SUNY University at Buffalo School of Law in 1992.
Outside of the courtroom, Tom’s interests include golf, pickleball, and guitar. He was the founder and captain of his Ride for Roswell Team and for more than 10 years, as well as a member of the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation Community Advisory for 10 years.
